Google is investing $15 billion to build a 1-gigawatt AI and data centre hub in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, in partnership with AdaniConneX and Airtel. Meanwhile, Greenko Group operates the massive 5,230 MW Pinnapuram Integrated Renewable Energy Project (IREP) in the Kurnool/Nandyal district, supplying dispatchable green power for India's heavy industries and data centers.
Google's Data Centre Hub in Andhra Pradesh
  • Investment & Scale: A $15 billion multi-year commitment (2026–2030) to construct a 1-gigawatt AI and data centre cluster.
  • Locations: Spans roughly 601 acres across sites in Tarluvada, Adavivaram (Visakhapatnam), and Rambilli (Anakapalle district).
  • Infrastructure Partners: Developed via Google's subsidiary Raiden Infotech India alongside AdaniConneX and Airtel, which also involves subsea cable landings and fiber-optic networks.
  • Cooling & Sustainability: Designed with air-cooled systems rather than water-intensive evaporative cooling to minimize municipal water strain.
Greenko's Pinnapuram Project (Kurnool / Nandyal)
  • Project Scope: The world's first and largest gigawatt-scale Integrated Renewable Energy Storage Project (IRESP).
  • Capacity: 5,230 MW total capacity combining 3,000–4,000 MW solar, 550–1,000 MW wind, and a 1,680 MW closed-loop pumped storage hydro plant (delivering 10,080 MWh of daily storage).
  • Role in Powering Tech: Provides Schedulable Power On Demand (SPOD), offering round-the-clock firm, carbon-free renewable energy capable of backing heavy industrial loads and large-scale data centres.
